Looking for smart investment? The real estate market in the United States is booming and is attracting investors from all over the globe.
The economy and opportunities in the U.S. make it an appealing investment for international buyers – both resident and non-resident buyers. Buyers that are resident investors may be in the U.S. for work, education or other purposes, while non-resident foreigners buy homes for vacations or for investment reasons.
According to 2015 Profile of Home Buying Activity of International Clients report by the National Association of REALTORS, from April 2014 to March 2015, total international sales were about $104 billion, which is a huge increase from the previous year’s estimate of about $92.2 billion. This means that international clients are active in investing in homes in America, especially international buyers from China, Canada, Mexico, India and the United Kingdom. Buyers from India spent about $7.9 billion in U.S. properties last year, placing them third after China and Canada.
Buyers from India tended to purchase throughout the country and were less focused on certain regions of America, buying wherever they sought the most opportunity. Top states included New Jersey, Texas and California. Many investors bought in Ohio (6%) and took advantage at the booming economy and low cost of living. The state boasts very notable metropolitan cities like Cincinnati and Cleveland – both providing residents a number of big city and suburban options that offer a quality lifestyle and very attractive property investment opportunities for international buyers.
