Travelers from Singapore to the U.S. will soon be able to undergo faster immigration clearance thanks to the US – Singapore Trusted Traveler Program (TTP), which has been recently launched. The TTP is part of the Global Entry Programme and Singapore is the first country in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations to sign the agreement with the United States. Authorities believe this is a win-win situation, and travelers from both countries will enjoy their journey with fewer inconveniences.
Eligible individuals from Singapore and the U.S. can perform the immigration clearance through automated kiosks located in the major entry points into these two countries and thus skip the regular passport control. In the U.S., there are 47 such airports and 13 pre-clearance locations. Singaporeans will also undergo expedited security screening when they are departing from a U.S. airport. The same applies for U.S. citizens traveling to and from Singapore.
Eligible citizens from Singapore can apply on-line for the TTP and then go for an interview at the US embassy in Singapore. The interviews with the successful applicants will be held every Wednesday.
