High demand for graduates in agriculture and food industries

ID-100350078Investing in a degree in agriculture and food industries could bring more benefits than you would thing. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the annual demand for college graduates in these fields will reach 57,900 jobs over the next five years, meaning that the demand will be quite higher than the offer. Employers already feel this shortage, but positions are filled, at the moment, by graduates in other fields.

Agriculture is an extremely generous field in terms of job opportunities and includes, besides direct production, many other jobs in the sub-sectors of agricultural education, business and management or food safety, just to name a few. In fact, just 15 percent of all agricultural jobs relate to farming.

Salaries are not to be overseen. For instance, IT managers in food and agricultural businesses earn on average $78,500 per year, an operation manager can receive $60,600 per year, and agronomists have an average annual income of $45,500.
