One common way to get a Green Card or else known as permanent resident card, is through employment. Even though there are different categories of employees, the Domestic employees and unskilled labor form is still one of the most popular ways through which a foreign person can apply for a green card.

In order for a Domestic worker or unskilled laborer to come in USA, he/she first needs to be sponsored by an American employer. On the other hand, the employee should provide a job offer and also be qualified to perform certain unskilled labor which shouldn’t be in a temporary basis. In order to be able to apply for a green card under this category, the US employer should first file for Labor Certification Application and be approved by the Department of Labor.

After the beneficiary has received the Labor Certification, she/he then has to wait for their visa to become available. The truth is, the eligibility requirements for visa category are not as stringent as the ones for other employment based categories. Despite this fact, this category has a big backlog and it could take a while before a visa finally becomes available.

If you belong in this category (you are a domestic worker or other “unskilled” laborer), then, you are eligible to become a permanent resident by applying for a Green Card for Domestic Employee or Unskilled Labor Applicant. All you need to do is to initiate this process as soon as you can.
