3 Common Reasons For Green Card Application Denial

There are many reasons for denial of a Green Card application. In this article I’ll try to briefly review three common reasons, and how to avoid them.
Please keep in mind, however, that I am not a lawyer, and this information should NOT be considered as a legal advice.

1. Basic Eligibility

Or in other words: you tried to apply for a Green Card  in a category that doesn’t fit you.
There are several types of visas you can apply for. For instance, if you are engaged to marry an U.S citizen, you may eligible to apply for you can apply for  fiance visa. If you have $500,000 to invest in American business, you may be eligible for an investment-based green card. But if you are neither, and you tried to apply to one of these visas, most chances are you’ll be denied.
How to avoid: make your homework. Research all visa types, and apply only to the one you are qualified for.

2. Misrepresentation

Or in other words: you were caught lying.
This category refers to cases where applicants committed fraud or lied about certain details in their application, or even previous applications. A misrepresentation can be made in various ways, including in an oral interview or in written applications, or by submitting evidence containing false information.
How to avoid: be 100% truthful, and avoid giving any inaccurate information.

3. Submission Process Mistakes

In other words: you didn’t fill out the forms correctly.
Believe it or not, this is the #1 reason for visa denials. There are all kinds of possible mistakes: missing forms, missing information, the application was not submitted in accordance with the instructions, etc.
How To Avoid: Make sure you have all the required documents and consider getting a professional help from immigration experts.
